May 10th, 1931 – February 22nd, 2014
On July 1st, 2014, my grandfather Carl E. Buss was put to rest and paid final tribute at Green Hills Mortuary and Memorial Chapel.
It was an honor to attend my first of only a few I will see… a Military funeral for someone in my family who served for our wonderful country. It was a very touching moment, and even past death… a reminder of what an amazing person he was.
Even more fitting… for a person who loved airplanes, air shows, and all things in nature, we walked outside to witness an ariel tribute in his name, which included 3 passes of 5 planes each a different formation. The last pass was the “Missing Man” formation.
I believe Grampa may have been trying to teach me one last lesson from heaven, as the very first words I heard while walking in the chapel to pay respect with my family at 1:03pm were… “a very punctual man…and that is why we started precisely at 1:00pm.” I will be the first to admit, I run at least 5-10 minutes late every where I go. I never mean it to be that way, something just “happens”. Grampa… I will work to be more prompt and timely.
Rest in Peace “Grampa”!
